Fix Techtonica Beginner Fuel Automation is NOT Beginner IMO, Needs Some TLC
Introduction
Techtonica is a first-person factory automation game set beneath the surface of an alien planet. Players can work alone or in co-op to build factories, gather resources, research new technologies, mold the destructible terrain, establish a base of operations, and uncover long-forgotten secrets.
The Early Game Bio Brick Automation
Enjoying the vibe of this game so far, just had some thoughts on the early game bio brick automation I wanted to share. The first two tiers of station VICTOR seem to be hella unbalanced. As someone who has put a decent amount of hours into games like Factorio and Satisfactory, I like to think I know my way around a factory layout, but these first two tiers are rough stuff.
In these types of games, my usual approach is to automate fuel production as soon as possible. In Techtonica, I especially don’t want to destroy the gorgeous environment by picking up plant matter. However, the infrastructure I’ve had to build just to get a single assembler making these biobricks, which seem to be the most efficient fuel source for smelters, is overwhelming. Even with that, I’m not able to support the 6 or so smelters I made during the tutorial.
The Need for Improvement
I feel that the developers need to give this particular aspect of the game a second glance. In my opinion, any newcomers who jump into this game without previous experience in factory/automation games would probably struggle and may lose interest when the game starts opening up to higher tiers. Although the tutorial was well-paced, as soon as I hit Victor, the game progressed almost vertically, making it difficult even for someone who loves these types of games.
I hope this feedback comes across as constructive and not a flat-out dig. I am definitely looking forward to seeing this game evolve and improve!
