Fixing Techtonica Controller Issues / Config Locations
Techtonica is a first-person factory automation game set beneath the surface of an alien planet. Work alone or in co-op to build factories, gather resources, research new technologies, mold the destructible terrain, establish a base of operations, and uncover long-forgotten secrets.
Introduction
Techtonica is an exciting game that offers players the opportunity to explore and build on an alien planet. However, some players have reported experiencing issues with the controller support in the game. This article aims to provide solutions and guidance on how to fix Techtonica controller issues and locate the configuration files for further troubleshooting.
Controller Support Not Working
Many players have encountered an issue where the controller support in Techtonica stops working after selecting the controller input option. This issue prevents players from interacting with menus and playing the game using the controller. If you are experiencing this problem, there are several steps you can take to try and resolve it.
1. Check Controller Compatibility
Firstly, ensure that your controller is compatible with the game. Techtonica supports a variety of controllers, including the wireless Xbox 360 controller. However, it is essential to confirm that your controller is functioning correctly with other games to rule out any hardware issues.
2. Reset Controller Settings
If the controller support suddenly stops working after selecting the input option in Techtonica, you may need to reset the controller settings. Unfortunately, if you are unable to access the in-game menus, there is an alternative method to reset the controller settings.
Locate the configuration files for the game on your PC. The exact location of these files may vary depending on whether you are playing the game through the Xbox Game Pass app or Steam. Once you have found the configuration files, delete them to reset the controller settings and allow keyboard and mouse (K/M) input to work again.
Finding Configuration Files
The location of the configuration files may differ between the Xbox Game Pass app and Steam versions of the game. Here are the general steps you can take to find them:
- Open the File Explorer on your PC.
- Navigate to the drive where the game is installed.
- Look for a folder named “Techtonica” or a similar title.
- Once you have found the game folder, search for a “config” or “settings” folder within it.
If you are using the Xbox Game Pass app, you may need to navigate to a different location on your PC. Consult the app’s documentation or support resources to find the exact location of the game files.
3. Backup Config Files
Before deleting the configuration files, it is recommended to create a backup of them. This allows you to restore the files in case deleting them does not resolve the issue or causes unintended consequences in the game’s settings.
4. Launch the Game
After deleting the configuration files, launch Techtonica again. The game will recreate the necessary configuration files with default settings. Test whether the controller support is functioning correctly now. If not, there may be other underlying issues that require further investigation.
Conclusion
Techtonica is an immersive gaming experience set on an alien planet. While the game offers the option to use controllers, some players have encountered issues with controller support. By following the steps outlined in this article, you can try to resolve controller issues and locate the configuration files for further troubleshooting. Remember to always create a backup of the configuration files before making any changes. If the problem persists, it is recommended to reach out to the game’s support team for assistance.

Is there some trick to getting controller support working?
As of now, I am fully unable to interact with any menu as soon as I selected the controller input option, K/M stopped working, and my controller simply is not working. So I can’t even go back into the menus to reset it to K/M, so I can play.
I am using a standard wireless Xbox 360 controller that has no issue with any other games.
Is there a location where the config files are saved so I can nuke them and get K/M working again? I managed to ‘find’ the supposed save location based on a previous topic, but despite having an active game, it contains no save data, so I’m unsure if it’s in a different spot for the Game Pass app vs. Steam.
